The image compression can be activated automatically with the support of cron running which saves a lot of time for store admins. Magento 2 Image Optimizer will periodically scan to notify about the optimization status of available images. Then, the optimization process will be activated at a certain time that has been set by admins before.
The image scan can be assigned to specific directories of the store site. With directory separation, the resizing process would become time-saving and focused. From the admin backend, the automatic optimization can easily be configured to include/exclude directories that images need or don't need to be scanned.
Update and change image status easily via detailed reports
Detailed reports will help you get a comprehensive overview of the resize status of each image. In addition, admins can easily perform actions on each image.
The information of the scanned images, including: Path, Status, Original Size, Optimized Size, Compression Level(%), Error Message, etc., will be fully recorded at the Manage Images grid. In particular, the status bar will show the percentage of optimized files and pending files to help admins get a comprehensive overview.
In the image optimization status update report, actions on each image is easy to take. You are allowed to click the "action" button in the top left corner of the reports or select "select" next to each image to optimize, restore, requeue, delete, or progress them manually. Moreover, right here, the optimization process can be stopped at any time.

Separating directories makes scanning quicker and more targeted. Some directories require original images with full quality will not be considered in the optimization process. This happens when a batch of images contains many very large photos, causing script execution optimization to fail due to memory and time constraints.
