The data of the translation is supplied by Magento 2 Translation Project of Crowdin site, on which you will contribute into the project and download the zip file to install on your own store. This knowledge base will include full of the clear guides that support you to convert the default language (English) into Italian language on your entire store.

There are two compressed versions of Italian Language Pack for Magento 2. If you want to install manually, just download .zip or tar.gz version to your computer, then install it on your Magento store.

How to activate the language pack
It’s time to activate the language pack for your Magento 2 store.
- Step 1: From Magento 2 admin panel, navigate to
Stores > Configuration > General > Locale Options - Step 2: Select
Italian (Italy)and clickSave Configuration

How to Install Italian Language Pack
Method #1. Install via Composer
Install the Italian language pack via composer is really easier.
Install Italian pack:
composer require mageplaza/magento-2-italian-language-pack:dev-master mageplaza/module-smtp
php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy it_IT
php bin/magento indexer:reindex
php bin/magento cache:clean
php bin/magento cache:flush
You may get this message:
=> Go to Access Keys page and Create A New Access Key.
Update Italian pack:
composer update mageplaza/magento-2-italian-language-pack:dev-master
php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy it_IT
php bin/magento indexer:reindex
php bin/magento cache:clean
php bin/magento cache:flush
Method #2. Install via command line
Install the Italian language pack via command line.
Download the language file to your installation root directory. Now run the following command:
wget https://github.com/mageplaza/magento-2-italian-language-pack/raw/master/it_IT.csv
php bin/magento i18n:pack -m replace it_IT.csv it_IT
php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy it_IT
php bin/magento cache:flush
As a result, a directory language pack will be created, which contains the proper structure of language files for your installation. Copy it over to your Magento installation and the translation should be visible.
Note: additional directory i18n contains strings for which the module could not be found in your installation. This file can be skipped.
